During a festive event on Sunday, 28 September 2008, in the “Alten Kesselhaus” in Düsseldorf, Germany, approximately 450 top managers from the food and restaurant industry gathered to witness the bestowing of the award as the “Caterer of the Year” for the sixth time. Marché International was awarded 1st place in the category “Management and Employees”.
Oliver Altherr, the CEO of Marché International, accepted the award from the Editor-in-Chief of “Catering Inside”, Sabine Romeis. Concerning the reason for this award, it was stated that “the jury was very enthusiastic about the way the company’s not only courageous, but also exemplary corporate strategy with which the Marché™ concept for highly-frequented locations is being introduced into new, international markets. The jury was particularly impressed with the Marché™ RDT System that they use to train their staff. The company uses that system to guarantee the implementation of their radical quality and freshness course around the world“.
“We couldn’t be more flattered and pleased to receive this recognition and we are naturally enormously proud of our staff for carrying out their responsibilities on the front lines so well. This recognition is confirmation that we are on the right path with the Marché™ concept and that we are truly answering the needs of our guests“, were the comments of Oliver Altherr.
Freshness Strategy as a Factor for Success
Fresh, healthy and fast: That’s what the Marché™ concept stands for. Along with freshness, quality and seasonality are the most important foundation pillars of the Marché™ concept. The immediate preparation of the dishes right in front of the waiting guest guarantees our visitors an honest and totally transparent view into the origin, handling and freshness of all of our regional and seasonal products.
On a Global Expansion Course
Marché International is not only in Germany and Switzerland, but also currently being successfully represented in Austria, Hungary, Slovenia, Norway and Asia. The Marché™ concept can primarily be found at high-frequency locations, such as along highways, in airports and in train stations and this concept has already celebrated its 25 year anniversary earlier this year. In the domestic market, Marché International is currently operating a total of 37 locations. As was consistently the case in previous years, this year Marché International has also been bestowed numerous awards. Along with the Hamburg Food Service Prize 2008, Marché Hirschberg was also successful in winning a hat-trick with the highly-coveted ARCD Rest Stop Test. The Marché rest stop at Schwechat along the highway S1 in Austria was also awarded the ranking “very good” at the ADAC Test 2008.
