Following the successful opening of Marché International at the Plaza Senayan last year, a second Marché restaurant has now been opened in Jakarta. The new location in Grand Indonesia Shopping Town fascinated its guests with the charming atmosphere typical of the southern regions of Switzerland – the focus was on the area around Ticino.

The Swiss restaurant group Marché International came up with some special ideas for the new franchise operation in the Grand Indonesia Shopping Town, Level 3A, Entertainment District in Jakarta: Covering a total floor space of almost 12,800 ft², Marché International can now offer around 500 guests a small piece of Italian Switzerland right in the middle of Indonesia. Starting in December, a staff of about 100 will see to it that all of the needs of their guests are tended to in the affectionately designed seating area with its Ticino ambience. “All of our new employees in our new Marché restaurant were specially trained during the last three months in our flagship location in the Plaza Senayan. Additionally, the entire Marché® team from Indonesia will be on hand to offer added support during the initial phase of the new location“, says Thomas Sjamsul, Quality Manager Indonesia.

Culinary diversification, freshness and variety
The culinary offering is characterized by its diversity. Aside from the typical Swiss specialties, like hash brown potatoes and home-made sausage based on original alpine recipes, are being offered by the restaurant, with a special emphasis on Italian dishes. These are being freshly prepared, in the typical Marché® manner, right before the watchful eyes of our guests. Every visitor can be assured of finding the dish to perfectly suit his or her taste, whether it is hand-made noodle dishes, grilled seafood or a pizza from the largest stone oven in all of Jakarta – the fresh and widely diversified selection means everyone can find just what they are looking for. All of our grills are wood-burning and this means that all of the dishes prepared on them have a unique flavor. Our guests can also look forward to enjoying risotto and polenta on the weekends. The Marché® Natural Bakery also offers bread and other baked goods that are freshly prepared according to the rules, customs and the traditional methods of the baking trade. These kinds of sandwiches with home-made spreads and toppings cannot be found anywhere else in Jakarta.

A Ticino ambience that is true to the original
Just like the culinary offering, the comfortable and inviting atmosphere is widely diversified. Every sitting area is unique and designed with loving attention to detail – all of the building materials, such as granite, terra cotta and marble are typical of the area near Ticino. Right next to a Ticino open-hearth fireplace, a saletta offers guests true to the original Roman terra cotta figures, as well as abstract ornaments that are typical to the region. The wine cellar, too, with its cozy sitting area, old wine kegs direct from Ticino and brick-lined vaulted ceilings encourage our guests to sit, stay and relax. The veranda is in itself fascinating because of its pillar-framed archways and a vaulted ceiling. The cantina, decorated with original crockery and pans from Ticino, imparts to its visitors a Swiss-Italian “art of life” in Asia.

A gastronomy adventure for the children
No, we haven’t forgotten about our smallest guests when they come to visit the newest Marché® restaurant! A lavish adventure area with climbing facilities and toys are wonderful opportunities for the children to play. The children can enjoy being colorfully made up on the weekends, as well, or listen in as an exciting story is read to them. Additionally, it is not only possible to celebrate kid’s birthday parties here, but the children will also soon be able to take part in cooking and baking classes, too.
